Trivia Question❓What does the acronym "IPO" stand for in the financial world? Answer at the bottom of the newsletter |
When you meet the founder of Healing Without Limits, her calm energy makes you pause. Not because she tries to impress, but because you feel seen. For someone who works in the world of mental health, that’s the point. She didn’t plan to build a company. She answered a call. Her journey began years ago when her mother underwent a transformation in ways no one had expected. A late-onset mental illness shook her family. What followed felt like a storm. Fear, confusion, grief. She spent her teen years watching a strong woman fade behind symptoms no one could explain. That kind of pain doesn’t go away. It either breaks you or builds you. Her early career was built on that experience. At 18, she stepped into the world of mental health. First, as a crisis counselor. Then, as a licensed therapist. She worked in hospitals, private practices, state agencies, and at the federal level. Her resume speaks volumes. She led a $96 million response to the opioid crisis in Ohio, worked alongside the FDA, leaders across SAMHSA, NIH, and the White House. But deep down, she knew the system wasn’t built to catch everyone. She watched people fall through cracks too wide. Especially in Black families. Especially in places where stigma lived louder than support.
Built in Columbus, her business focuses on transforming the way we approach mental health. Not just for individuals but for entire systems. She works with workplaces, communities, and government agencies to embed wellness into how they operate. Because she knows people bring their whole selves to work, and what happens in the office follows them home. “If we help workplaces support their people, we don’t just get better employees,” she says. “We get better families. Better neighborhoods. A better world.” Her approach seems straightforward: heal the entire system. But behind that idea lives years of experience, deep strategy, and a belief that God assigned her this work. She doesn’t wear that faith on her sleeve, but she walks with it in every room. She often says she was sent to “heal God’s people,” but not in the way most expect. You won’t find her preaching. You’ll find her building trust, , and helping organizations create cultures where people feel safe, seen, and supported. One of her most powerful tools is her Workplace Wellness Program. It helps employers create a space where mental health is integrated into success, not just a side conversation. Her team bridges the gap between policy and practice. She trains managers. She guides leadership. She designs frameworks that shift entire cultures. “We change how people work, so we change how they live.”
She also sits on the board of the Tri Village Chamber . There, she pushes to bring more diverse business owners into rooms that weren’t built for them. It’s not just advocacy, it’s action. She’s inviting new voices into old spaces, especially in places like Upper Arlington and Grandview Heights, where minority business owners fe a sense of belonging. This month, the Chamber largest annual event: Be Your Best Self. With nearly 200 people expected, the event focuses on personal growth, authenticity, and unlocking your full potential. “poured into me when I was a new business owner,” she says. “Now I pour back.” Her story resonates with the kind of leaders Excel Columbus exists to serve—builders who carry a deeper purpose. These are founders who believe legacy matters more than ego. Business owners who don’t just want profit, they want meaning. At Healing Without Limits, that mission remains clear: to empower communities, build healthier systems, and shift how society approaches mental health. Whether she’s at a local Chamber meeting or a federal roundtable, she carries her mother’s story, her community’s hope, and her faith in what’s possible. Her journey proves this truth: pain can shape purpose. And purpose can change everything. |
